MIKES...with all due respect...you can't possibly speak as to what the Occupy Wall Street movement is about because you don't know what it is about. How do I know that? Because they don't have any clearly defined ideas yet. Currently they are as diverse as the tea party. There are "members" at both ends of the political spectrum. No one knows how the movement feels as an entity yet because, as Cheryl pointed out...they are not unified yet in their agenda.

    • From: cathib9
    • Description:

A friends mother's second marriage yielded quite a jump in income.  A treck to Grand Rapids Michigan was necessary to visit her C. P. A...  I was invited to go along on this little adventure.  It wasn't until after this event that I discovered why I was invited and not one of her many other friends.

It was close to the event when I received the call.  She rang me up on Wednesday and we would leave on Friday.  The plan was to go early, see her C.P.A. and spend the rest of the weekend at a nice hotel.  We would go on a shopping spree, etc...  It sounded nice.  So unlike her to be nice in this way.

Friday morning came.  With great anticipation, I climbed into the car totally unaware of her driving record for the past 10 years.  It was scary as a child to ride with her.  But, one thinks a person mellows with age.  Not necessarily, as I soon found out.

While flying down the express way at about 90 miles per hour she discovers that she has missed her turn off.  Now most rational people would have gone to the next exit and turned around.  The operative word her being RATIONAL.  Remember, this vehicle is moving at about 90 when she decided to slam on the breaks, swerve from the right lane to the left.  WITHOUT checking for traffic.  She spotted a gravel turn around:

      FOR POLICE USE ONLY

her ticket to the other side of the express way.  We went flying on gravel.  Fish tailing almost out of control across this very short piece of land, flew up onto the express way going into the traffic.  And of course, not looking for the on coming traffic we spead into the right lane.  I thought she spotted Dalmations!

We are now heading back for the correct exit.  A ride with the Blue Angles would have been mild compared to this.  Needless to say, I was speechless for about 20 minutes.

Supper that evening was just as eventful. This person was always on her girls about table settings, the proper way to serve a seven course meal.  Jackie O would have been proud.  I never gave it a thought when she decided to order spaghetti.  I should have guessed something was amiss when she asked the waitress to bring extra napkins.

When the food arrived, she stuffed one of the many napkins under her chin into her blouse.  The, with great vigor, she went at her meal like Custer's last stand.  By the time it was all said and done, she had spaghetti lines all over her face.   I can't say that I have ever seen anything quite like it.

What an increadable trip that was.  What a funny lady she was.  I have to say, the trip home was just as event full!  I can honestly say that was the last adventure I had with her.

I hear what you're saying, Kenny, and I agree. Keeping a healthy perspective on the marketing end of the deal is really important and not always so easy to do. We've got a lady in our Coop who can barely keep enough product on hand. Of course, she's retired and has time not only to work our brick and mortar, but loads her stuff up and travels to shows all over California during the summer.

She's a glass artist, which is a slam dunk. People love the beauty of colored glass and for good reason.

I didn't read anywhere that Marion said a piece of art can't be weighed and judged to be good or bad.

I read his statements twice through, and got the impression that he was discussing whether something could be judged to be art or not.

Those are two different topics, if I'm not mistaken. Or maybe I just can't read and comprehend any more.

Plus I read a lot from Marion about a person learning as m

They can't put themselves in the same category with the mainstream....God forbid.  So they pick out obscure, strange or unique (even if it's not great) art to praise and slam the rest.

Or.... the artists (or gallery owners) they praise are friends of theirs and they have an agenda to promote them.
