  • Oh No You Didn't Oh No You Didn't

    • Description:

Have you ever had one of those moments in time where you so wish it was a do over?  I just did.  There is a plant that is growing in my garden that no one has been able to identify.  It has HUGE  leaves and stands about 5 1/2 feet tall.  A beautiful dark Kelly green.   I have had several people come and look at it.  The only thing in common with what they agree on is that it is truly beautiful.

I posted it on Facebook to see of anyone could identify it.  Several people responded with many things to say but , alas, no one could tell what it is.

A couple of hours later someone was standing at my door knocking.   I was on the comupter so I didn't hear it right away.  Then another knock.  I went to see who it was.   A gentlemen I know, not well, was standing there.  I opened the door and he said:

"I saw your post and decided to come and look at the plant"

      "No problem"

I responded and put the Crocks on.  We walked slowly aroumnd the building having small chit chat about the "Monster Plant" which I have now named it.  Upon reaching it, again, puzzlement.  He stood there looking and commented on what he thought the family it could belong to might be and if it flowers, then maybe we can find it.
We were  just chating when he noticed a vine growing in the large pot of mine.  It has gotten quite tall.

      "What is that"

      He said:

and before I could stop myself I said

      "Chlamydia"

Then in that short moment in time, my eyes went to the "Deer in headlights" look  My brain searched for the correct name and then out came:

      "Clematis, I mean Clematis"!

He never flinched.  No reaction.  All I can gather is that he probably doesn't know what that is.  Thank God!  We chatted for a few more minutes and then he left.  I don't think that I have ever laughed that hard in my entire life.  It was so hard to keep it together until he left but thru the Grace of God, I did.

Whew, just another fun day in the life and times of , oh let me think,,,,,,  ME.

You're fully expecting some tale about a young slave
trapped in a dungeon and forced to stoke the boiler
beast day and night plus give favors to her master at
his beck and call. But, no.

This is marketing exec Margery and she bought a huge
home in the central district when the housing market
bubble was just about to burst. She's completely under
water now, as they say in the loan business, but she's
going to do anything that it takes to keep her home
because owning an old monster of a classic palace was
      her life's dream.

Now, tough times beset us all.

With the help of her friends she was able to yank out
the ancient oil burner from the cellar so that they
could stoke the old solid fuel steam demon with coal or
wood, furniture, paper money, anything to keep the fire
      burning and the building warm.

Once or twice a night she has to get out of bed and
descend into the dungeon of a basement to shovel fuel
into the throat of the smelly thing. It belches and
stinks as it musters what life it has left to push heat
up into the three floors above. The heated air rises by
convection in a gentle massage that overheats the early
sleepers to sweat - only to cool in night-time-later
leaving the unclad sleepers to an unsettled clammy chill.

She, perhaps a partner, rush to repack the monster in
the still warm cellar coal room and she fills herself
over with work, covered with sweat and soot. Somehow
the act of fleshy steam labor seals her conviction to
stay put regardless, in the ancient abode of work. The
bones of the old have captured her spirit, enslaved
her, and she will willfully give favors at its beck and
call, its hissing steam and seductive danger.

Mired by the seduction of the beast, well fed perhaps,
she and her partner will fall into a heated dreamy
embrace, making love, then again to sleep for another
      round.

    • Description:

Hello Ovation Artists,I am not sure what my purpose is in exposing this part of my life on a site that is mostly positive based energy but here we go.First off… this isn’t a cry for help or need for attention. I think I just want to feel free from a childhood that has had a strangle hold on me for 40 something years. In the mid 90’s I wrote tons of poems and short stories about my childhood and the toxic relationship between my father and myself. In many ways writing is what helped me deal with the truth of my childhood and maybe even allowed me to.. Understand my father’s rage. Writing helped me see things much more clear or as clear as it could get.It isn’t a easy thing to accept that my father was a pedophile and a hate monger. I honestly believe he hated himself. When he died in 2008 I was so angry he  never had the balls to show any remorse for he cruelty he put my Mother, Sister and myself through. I guess I just needed to know he wasn’t a monster and they he was human under all that rage and hate. I know I will never know that side of him now and in order to move on with life… I had to just let that dream go.Today I am at a point in my life that my desire to express deep emotions through my art work is so important to me that sometimes it drives me to a dark place in my mind. It feels like with my efforts to move forward has been for nothing. It is a constant struggle to connect with both people and myself. It’s like a big wall between myself and my art and people. I have lived in this state of mind for so long… it is all I know and I fear will be all that I will ever know. I am trying to free myself through my Art and I really hope I can inspire others to do the same. I understand that this post seems unfinished and unfocused and I hope you will forgive me for that. I just needed to vent a little without going into dreadful details. To all of you that I un-friend… I did not do it because of something you said or did. I did it because I felt like I did not fit in this amazing group of human beings. I am still drawing things and people. I have this weird drive to keep going. Which makes me think and feel like… there is still hope for me and my Art. I rarely post here because I know my work is not ready yet for knowledgeable eyes. Not to come off insecure about myself but to stay honest about my art. I know I have something to express to the world and I know it will happen when the time is right.Thank you for taking the time to read this and please.. Never allow anyone or anything to stand between you and your Art. Take that stand before the wall gets too high.
