Enlightened Expression- Familiarity and fears can breed boundaries of grays, black and white that limit our understanding. It’s only when we are willing to bring a little color does it jump out from the familiarities that tend to hinder us from experiencing fresh expressions.

Elemental Abstract is an extension of my original signature art manner Modern Allegorism ( See Wikipedia) its symbolistic and speaks a deeper meaning for very day living.

PLEASE DISTANCE A BIT FROM MONITOR TO 'SEE'...  ..editing my Eucalyptus Tree Bark Series..and creative spirit lingered with several photographs......got carried 'away'.with 'Swept Ashore'...and is good..need brought me 'here'. my little boat is ship wrecked..and swept onto an 'island'.........

... other photographs..from Eucalyptus Bark..incredible light and shadow play..and as always..discover in tree bark the voice of mysterious..the place where fantasies are 'alight'..** size for uploading purpose only..will announce when limited , numbered copies ,signed and dated, are available.

**..for some reason..wanted this photograph in grey tones..so..converted it to that..this one i would need photoshop for..to deepen the dark  sharper and let the grays 'play' with their light variations..forms which are exquisite, would stand out super..Smile

  • Fog, Grays Harbor, WA (Ver. 2) Fog, Grays Harbor, WA (Ver. 2)

    • From: Hungarian Mango
    • Description:

I had submitted a first version which was full frame 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 color slide film. The second version I had cropped down the sky by about a third. I finally decided to submit the full frame version. I was wrong. diver5115 commented on this image that if I crop the sky down 1/3 the image was be down to the essence. He is absolutely right. So here is the second version. Thanks diver5115 for your kind and pertinent suggestion.

    • From: Hungarian Mango
    • Description:

I set my 4X5 camera up on the east bank of the harbor and waited for the clouds and rain to come in. When the clouds began to get into the right position, I decided to make the image over the top so I underexposed and used a hight contrast red filter. When I Printed it, I again underexsposed and added a bit more contrast then gave the print a warm tone.

I hope I varied the composition enough off the source material to call it my own, Fred.

But, I did love the kid’s drawing so much I had a hard time wanting to rearrange the subject matter. I guess that’s a big reason I was drawn to the image in the first place. Since the original composition was so complete, it made for a great starting point for digging into what has been most engaging for me to explore lately: The figure to ground relationship.
