Is it possible that we can finally agree what is art?:)))

I was tellng about passion and love and "putting one's heart" into his work all the time. Is it so hard to tell apart a worker who gives only his time into his work from a person who puts his time, head and heart into his work?

A thought just came to me and I want to share it with you - It is the spring time now, beauty of nature softens all hearts and people fall in love. They bring flowers, they sing and they do many things they

      Thanks everyone for joining in.

JD, when we lived out in the boonies, my walk-behind Brush Hog was the only piece of power equipment I truly loved.  Thanks for the great word picture.

Scott, I look at your contribution and I see fall and winter slinking away into oblivion and the green saying "move ober, it's our turn!"

Liss, your flowers are both beautiful and somehow menacing.  Excellent work!

Richard, that's some amazing clarity there.  First-rate work as

  • Steam Steam

    • Description:

You're fully expecting some tale about a young slave
trapped in a dungeon and forced to stoke the boiler
beast day and night plus give favors to her master at
his beck and call. But, no.

This is marketing exec Margery and she bought a huge
home in the central district when the housing market
bubble was just about to burst. She's completely under
water now, as they say in the loan business, but she's
going to do anything that it takes to keep her home
because owning an old monster of a classic palace was
      her life's dream.

Now, tough times beset us all.

With the help of her friends she was able to yank out
the ancient oil burner from the cellar so that they
could stoke the old solid fuel steam demon with coal or
wood, furniture, paper money, anything to keep the fire
      burning and the building warm.

Once or twice a night she has to get out of bed and
descend into the dungeon of a basement to shovel fuel
into the throat of the smelly thing. It belches and
stinks as it musters what life it has left to push heat
up into the three floors above. The heated air rises by
convection in a gentle massage that overheats the early
sleepers to sweat - only to cool in night-time-later
leaving the unclad sleepers to an unsettled clammy chill.

She, perhaps a partner, rush to repack the monster in
the still warm cellar coal room and she fills herself
over with work, covered with sweat and soot. Somehow
the act of fleshy steam labor seals her conviction to
stay put regardless, in the ancient abode of work. The
bones of the old have captured her spirit, enslaved
her, and she will willfully give favors at its beck and
call, its hissing steam and seductive danger.

Mired by the seduction of the beast, well fed perhaps,
she and her partner will fall into a heated dreamy
embrace, making love, then again to sleep for another
      round.

    • Description:

Last fall we had a visit from this rather bedraggled red fox that came up from the storm drainage ditch and wandered across my neighbor's front yard.  It is not unusual to see wild animals in our neighborhood but this one really surprised us as it appeared in the middle of the afternoon. The storm drains run all over our city and dump into The Loosahatchie River nearby.  It is natural highway for wild animals to easily travel into our neighborhoods from the wilderness nearby.

I visited Holly Springs, Mississippi last fall and fell in love with the old abandoned train station.  There was actually a residence in the rear of the property and they must have been gardeners as the yard was full of healthy but over grown flora.  This was their front yard entrance.  To me it looked so inviting.  Prints are available in 12 x 18 inch high res archival prints on acid free paper.  I charge $75 pre print and do not charge for shipping.
