    This is a geranium I cultivate since I was in California in 2011. I obtained a small unrooted part from a "mother geranium" and over two weeks I was keeping it in a wet paper towel while visiting all the missions along west coast ( from Monterrey bay to San Diego). After I got back to New York, I rooted it in water and after a week I had a very nice plant. It lives with us since and gives us a lot of joy with its gorgeous flowers. It blooms in winter too. Now it is a rather large plant and it is going to make a nice bush - in the leave's "armpits" i noticed a lot of new shoots.

    Love arrives like a flower blooms, unfolding to display its hidden beauty and deeply touch our inner selves.  But in the light as it showers its participants with beauty, the decay will soon begin.  Human emotion in its depth doesn’t suffer in love with the natural, quick demise of a flower, but in some cases it can.

    Joseph was on his last run on the #22 bus headed down the beach at one thirty in the afternoon on a Friday.  It was a warm summer day in late June with Joseph excited to end his seven to three shift and finish the week, because he was off on Saturday and Sunday.  At Beach 112^th Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard, in front ofLena’s Floral Shop, Joseph picked up three passengers at the bus stop.  A gray haired senior citizen entered the bus; she had a beautifully wrinkled face that conveyed the intensity of her life.  Her voice was deep and raspy with bright brown eyes, hooded to confirm her association with cigarettes.  Her name was Emma Nelson; she was with no drama or fuss, a thin, short woman, dressed in blue slacks and a medium gray blouse.  Emma paid her discounted fare and sat in the front section of the bus.  The second passenger paid her fare and also sat in the front of the bus in a seat right behind Joseph.  She was Heidi Bissell, an over weight woman in her late fifties and heavily dependent upon a metal cane.  Heidi wore a flowing forest green dress, with a brown haired wig to hide the remnants of her actual hair.  Heidi was in a state of recovery from the exertion of climbing the steps of the bus, normally she’d be talkative, filling the confines of the bus with complaints, commentary and observations, but the summer sun and her excessively aching knee impeded her.

    The third person, wearing a low-cut peach colored dress, a length just below her knees, with a matching ribbon in her black hair, was Valencia Maldonado. Valencia, with her sharp features and bright eyes, is an older more classic beauty than Maria, but Maria’s personality and demeanor make her overwhelmingly captivating. Valenciagreeted Joseph, paid her fare, and sat in the front seat across from him.  She chatted with Joseph as passengers got on and off the bus.  She asked if he went to see the film, “True Love” when Maria went, the fact of which slipped out while she was talking to the shop’s owner, Celia.  Joseph confirmed the movie date which clearly upset her.  At the last stop after the last passenger, beforeValenciaexited the bus, she advised, “You don’t understand, Joseph, I’ve already decided to leave my husband for you.”

    Joseph is too shocked to offer any type of reply. Valenciathen turns to the right to exit but pauses to point at a person outside the bus, stating, “There’s Felipe, he’s my husband.”
