Hekla, Iceland Today we arrived in Iceland and drove 2 hours to a glacier to go hike up to the top. Luckily I slept on the plane. The glacier we saw had shrunk quite a bit since I saw it last a few years ago. The weather has been been nice and it´s been fun to have everyone from work together in Iceland.<our itinerary has been non-stop since we landed at 6:30am and we will all meet up for dinner soon. We are staying out in the country side near Mt. Hekla (the volcano) It´s dark now but I´m sure it will be beautiful in the morning. We have another adventure filled itinerary for tomorrow so I hope we can get some sleep tonight. It was also nice to have my new jacket so far. I´m looking forward to the rest of the trip and sorry Gina could not be here. Love you Gina. Today was the first day I woke up with heavy frost on the ground and was quite happy to have my new jacket. The funny thing is, by the end of the day it was really quite warm and I ended up carrying the jacket wishing I didn’t have it. I painted this one early in the morning as tonight I am leaving for Iceland. Gina was supposed to come but unfortunately she got really sick last night and is staying home. I was looking forward to spending the weekend with her there.
In the news today, Belgian Prime Minister Herman Van Rompuy has been appointed the first "president of Europe," Catherine Ashton of the United Kingdom is to become the EU's foreign minister. The leaders of the 27 member states of the European Union made the decision behind closed doors in Brussels; members of the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee are taking a hard look at faulty data on the Obama administration's Recovery.gov website including hundreds of millions of stimulus dollars showing being spent in nonexistent congressional districts; and a telecommunications failure triggered scores of flight delays across the U.S, luckily all should be OK now before the flight!
