What is up with me

I know you don't want to know how sick I am (not in the head, but in the literal sense) so I will spare you that and tell you what has been going on with me art wise. I was in summer school all of june and some of july so I couldn't really make any art as being in an advanced pace honors class, homework was hard enough to keep up with (I got an A by the way which upholds my 4.0 for the past few semesters). As soon as school was out let's just say my health drastically declined moreso than usual, leaving me with a lot of free time being bedridden. I did a funny little bitty painting I'll have to get a photo of and did a figure study using one of my own photos as my source material for a dual portrait that is currently out being framed. Fun stuff I know! I have been looking at my outdoor surroundings for months and being thrilled by photo ideas so today despite the fact that I wasn't feeling well I hiked my camera, a heavy tripod and a stool into an empty field near a busy road I've had my eye on for a while. The conditions for the photo I wanted haven't been convienent as I needed chapped/dry soil in this area but I physically cannot be outside in the 100+ degree weather we have been experiencing here in Chicagoland. The only time that it has been cool enough outside for me to be outdoors, has been after rain and therefore ruined my photo with a large puddle. I didn't care about the puddle today and let's just say I am excited about the photos as I haven't been photographically active in a while. When I am done going through the photos I will post some of them probably on saturday. I'm excited I don't know if you people are.

  • Believe it or not I saw there was a blog called "What's Up With Me" and I thought about you, how you hadn't been around much.

Hope you're feeling better soon.  Looking forward to seeing your new work.  Being confined is kind of a drag but the following outbreak can be rewarding.  Last winter while I was off my feet with a fracture, one night I couldn't take it anymore so I went outside and up to the corner and got some of the best night photos I've ever taken.

  • Good for you to be thinking about art during your confinement to bed!  I think most art starts in the head anyway...so you could say you're really utilizing your time. Still, sometimes rest needs to be just that...rest.

Still, I eagerly await your postings, Steg.

And DO HOPE you get well soon!!!!

Be careful of the sun...if you get heat stroke it traumitizes the nervous system something fierce, so best you steer clear of THAT!

    Take care of yourself!
