Part XVIII

The goal of evil in its most overt state is longevity.  The immense satisfaction felt by organized evil in happily expressing and flaunting its dominating power and influence has historic cross references.  But it cannot sustain itself, because its greatest liability is the euphoria over the pain of others, which is clearly a form of illogical or even insane thought.  Ego and insanity have a close friendship although in a court of law it is defined by a person’s ability to know the difference between right and wrong.  The evil person or persons are with extreme levels of ego mania which overwhelms logic and reason, and controlled by ego and self satisfaction, is vulnerable.  The intensely evil Hitler stated that the Third Reich would last a thousand years, it lasted thirteen.

Horace Akers revealed the connections that made up the crew responsible for a portion of criminal activity in Queens.  The crew dealt drugs, took bets, maintained a traveling poker game at various locations, and committed the murders in the Rockaways andRosedale.

Detective Haberstem and Carter began gathering the evidence and statements that would be the case against what the two labeled, “The Candy Store Crew.”

Wilson Martinez was called in and he gave information that confirmed the gambling and betting conducted by Akers and “The Candy Store Crew” in the Rockaways.  While at the candy store the undercover cop, Aaron Reynolds, had a plethora of information that was now corroborated byWilson.  The cop, Reynolds, also knew where the bulk of stash was for the drugs; so what remained to be confirmed was the most important, who saw the murders, or heard the orders given to commit them.
