LA's Downtown Art Walk Report: August

Ovation TV staff were looking forward to another roam around our LA downtown galleries last night. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the galleries were packed. People are flocking to the art walk but from our perspective not much in the way of art appreciation is able to take place. As soon as we entered a gallery, we were confronted with a wave of warm air and body odor. It was difficult to move around and visit the various works and installations. However, what we could see was well worth it. Especially, two of our very own community members performing live paintings on the sidewalk, Pukac and MaxNeutra

Pukac's piece, New Venus

Max's piece, Indian

You guys are wonderful!

There were several themes to the art walk last night. The LA Art Girls filled two galleries with various interactive installations and paintings. It felt like a return to innocence to have my picture taken with a cardboard unicorn and make a thread heart with safety pins, but I digress. Digital Media and video art were highly prevalent mediums featured at several gallery spaces perhaps planned to coincide with the Downtown Film Festival.

Speaking of which, we are proud to announce one of our own community members is premiering a full-length feature in the film festival...

Tawd's film Aylaqruh:hurqalyA will premiere this evening (Friday, 8/15) as part of the downtown film festival. View the trailer by clicking on the flyer below.

Congratulations guys! We wish we could see everyone's exhibit, premiere, performance. Please blog about them and share your experiences.
