danielcombs, 11 months ago | FlagThank you ellis! It's all about the exit strategy. How are we going to find it? As individual
s and as a collective society?
Exit Strategy is a still life that I created in response to my love for games and political issues. In the world of politics and life there is an underlining of twisted games and deceit. From the collapse of the housing market to the Chinese taking over our currency our lives are dealt out and played with like a deck of cards. The playing ground isn’t a pristine surface. It has been stained over time.
I altered the symbol on the back of the dollar bill to read MISERY, ENSLAVES SOCIETY, instead of MDCLLXXVI, NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM. This is because ‘they’ control the masses through fear. The Monopoly card reads BIG BROTHER, USA instead of PARKER BROTHERS, INC. This is because the Government monitors our every move and keeps us gathered like sheep to the slaughter. I also put a red mark through GOD on the bill, and wrote in CHINA next to it. Because China owns everything we think we are, including our currency. You can’t even buy a miniature statue of an American President from a National Museum without turning it over to find a stamp that reads made in China. Besides all that there are a number of people around the world who practically bow down and worship China and their Communist dictator, Mao.
There are several other slight alterations to game pieces and currency in this piece. They all continue to tell the story of deceit and plunder. See if you can find them. I purposely put a number of idiosyncrasies' in this piece to find a different twist and meaning each time the viewer approaches the piece.
I used Prisma Color color pencils on Stonehenge paper. I don't use any erasers or blending sticks. I layer the pencil strokes until it is the effect I'm trying to aim for. I am mainly self taught, and am always looking for improvements and critical advice. I carry a copy of the Bargue Drawing Course with me at all times, and find it encouraging.
