Arts n Crafts Show 2012 (how to sell)

I am involved with an outdoor crafts fest This comming Saturday and was wondering how to go about sharing my art.  I would like to give people the oppourtunity to buy some of my photos but how do I go about doing that?  Do I get them printed on paper and put in a plasitc sleeve? or get frames? Please help with suggestions if you can it would be greatly appreciated.  THanks Friends

Jenni

  • Put them in sleeves with mats. the buyer can frame whatever they purchase. You can get little label or dots for pricing....

  • Hi Jenni,

I have found that smaller pieces often do very well.  This would include matted art of 9 x 12 or 8 x 10 or 5 x 7 placed in sleeves.  This can also be art cards:  8 or 10 to a box.  I have looked at what others sell them for and usually it ranges from $2.50 to $3.50 per individual cards in a sleeve to the boxes ranging from $12.95 to 15.00.  Your area may be more, but you could look at gift shops and museum shops and get an idea of what the market is willing to pay.

Great you are going to get out there.  It really helps to get known.  I would have a busienss card with a picture of one piece of your art with all your contact information to freely hand out.  It can be surprising where these cards end up.

Just a suggestion on when you get your cards printed, if you having them done by a printer--check a color proof!  I have seen some disappointing results and the artist had about 100 of them.  If you do it yourself, well, you're in charge and boung to have good results.

You can have some things framed.  Many people go with the simple white mat with black frame and allow the buyer to go more ornate with something that matches the decor of the room they will place the art in.  You don't want to have a small fortune in a frame that then makes the piece hard to sell!

Keep us posted on how you do.  I wish you great success!
