  • Perhaps Divinci never drew masterfully, studied anatomy, painted the last supper or the Mona Lisa. It was the guy in the mirror; the one who took all those notes backwards via the mirror image. Yea! that was it.

  • I always expect to found valid points in a movie made by the guy who brought us Independence Day and Godzilla. This movie sounds as idiotic as Amadeus. I wouldn't see it if it was free. Don't send me post modernist garbage like this anymore.

  • MY WHOLE FAMILY, ESPECIALLY MY 25 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, IS MOST ROYALLY PISSED OVER THIS TRAVESTY!   They are providing teachers with instruction guides for this bit of barbaric ignorance  The sequel is going to be about how Michelangelo was not really a sculptor, his work actually having been made in China for a Vatican advertising agency.  Having worked in the theater I, like any theater person, knows that this theatrical genius had to have been an actor to have so mastered the theatricality of his plays.  Being a some time poet, I know that the dark lady of the sonnets existed  only in the sense that Chloe exists: More real than any person but impossible to find on any senses role. I also know that his passion for words and understanding of the human soul overwhelms all and any sense of politics.  IDIOTS IDIOTS they should be made to watch their stupid film for the rest of eternity...

  • This is all very nice. Well researched, presented, etc. There is only one problem. If someone else wrote Shakespeare's works, then why didn't they take credit for them? I have heard credit given to several prominent writers, Sir Francis Bacon included. They were all great writers that changed Literature through their efforts. They also signed their work.

It has been posited that the real author hid behind a shill, Shakespeare, so he would have the freedom to criticize, lampoon, accuse or scorn English society, court and royal personages. The motive being to avoid the Tower or the ax. The problem is, Shakespeare never faced any retaliation. One would think after the first couple of plays, it would be safe to emerge from the shell.

However, no one ever did. Even post mortum, their was never a claim let by any of the suspects. More to the point, no one every disputed authorship. Odd considering the success of the works.

I maintain an open mind about this issue but does this really matter? If Shakespeare isn't the author than it can never be proven beyond doubt who the author actually was. The ongoing speculation smacks of intellectual snobbery. No common, poorly educated, basely born person could ever rise to such accomplishment. This is a usual reaction when faced with native talent, genius or ability.

Yet most genius springs from unexpected sources. That is the key to the human species. Few people are born with the ability of a Picasso, a Morzart or a Shakespeare; and that makes some who aren't feel inadequate. Who ever wrote the works of Shakespeare, they will remain his works into the foreseeable future. So live with it.
