Aleya Relaxed 20x30, By Larry Spencer ,..Larry’s observance of things has never been one dimensional, looking at a maple tree, and seeing a house at the top of it, then building it. Making bows and arrows, sling shots, for home made targets. And other childish toys made from things that presented themselves. Larry once orchestrated musical based on, The Little Rascals, when he was eight years old. Larry always had a knack for characterization. As a youth he went Catholic grade school, where strict rules were observed, and demanded by the nuns, where corporal punishment was enforced. Larry’s received his fair share  by characterizing them in a provocative manner. This type of bad behavior, and abstinence, was inherent at that time, but courageous, and creative, when you think about the prejudice and stereotype attitudes, at that time. 
Larry’s apparent ability, creativity and maturation, came to full focus in Junior High, and High School, where he would do his art for friends and family. Doing geographical maps, science projects, and other blue prints, at which he very astute. After graduating from high school, Larry went to St. Louis Art Institute and received a degree. Larry work odd jobs till 1979 when entered the U.S Army . The following year, and job opened for and illustrator for the post newspaper which he worked till he received  an honorable discharge in 1982 Larry then worked as a Graphic Illustrator for the Belleville News Democrat, and The Suburban Journal, and The Monitor newspaper.
Larry fears mediocrity, and have a caustic wit, that he flings with bold abandonment. Larry’s art is unmistakable, with beautiful and bold colors, shows the tremendous pride in his work. Larry’s work is detailed, consistent, spontaneous and impulsive which pushes him to the next experience. The sun shines brightly on Larry. Larry believes that each day is a new opportunity for growth, for change as seen in his art. Larry goes through life with a tremendous enjoyment for  life. His ability to formulate, and implement creative ideas without being deflected by other people is extraordinary and phenomenal.
Sometimes his visions may be regarded as unrealistic and bizarre, but that’s normal for an artist. Larry’s combination of great imagination, faultless organization, makes his art inspirational. His art has been inflicted by skepticism, but he always find humor as a valuable release from pressure, and enjoys the simple life. Heart-felt emotion is felt though his artistry.
